BETTIS

I’m excited to embark on this chronicle of the experiences of Pittsburgh’s earliest aviators and aviatrixes at Allegheny County’s Bettis Airport, with co-writer Brian Butko of the Heinz History Center.

For nearly a decade, I have been researching the history of this gracious Downtown Pittsburgh hotel that served travelers and residents from 1841-1935. The stories to be told centering this architectural witness to Pittsburgh’s history are endless — and sometimes the research process seems to be as well! Overflow tales that I know I won’t use in this book often make it onto my social media platforms.
